Who: Existing Staff

What: Assessment of need in any area of their work I.E able to identify environment and physical need which could result in the use of equipment, minor or major adaptations.

Why:

  • Broadens the skill mix of existing staff.
  • Uses a person centred approach to assessment.

ILP have trained a number of Housing and Rapid Response teams to Trusted Assessor Level with the added module of Equipment Awareness. A successful pilot which led to these teams being able to request assistive technology, reducing the need for a home visit from the community Occupational Therapy Teams.
