Who is the course for

This is a one day course for frontline workers in social care, health and housing settings.

  • An awareness of current, relevant legislation including the Equality Act, Human Rights Act and the Care Act
  • How we define disability?
  • Exploring stereotypes and attitudes to disability
  • Identifying barriers to communication
  • Methods of communication - how can we effectively communicate with people who have sensory, physical or cognitive disabilities?
  • Accessible Information Standards
  • Identifying physical and environmental barriers to equal access, and how these could be overcome
